What can you meet while still having some access to yourself and to choice?

Capacity is not a test of toughness. It helps us notice what can be meaningfully engaged with now, and what may need a different pace, more support or less pressure.

A changing inner landscape

What you understand and what you can access are not always the same.

Capacity helps us make sense of that difference without turning it into a personal failing. It brings attention to the conditions surrounding participation, including pace, complexity, health, stress, relationships, environment and available support.

  1. You know what you want to do

The response makes sense when you reflect on it, but becomes much harder to reach when the moment is pressured or emotionally charged.

  2. You keep pushing through

You can continue, cope or perform, while feeling increasingly disconnected from your needs, limits or available choice.

  3. What is available changes

Something that felt manageable yesterday may feel very different with less sleep, more stress, changing health or limited support.

What Capacity means here

Enough presence and participation for choice to remain available.

Within Primal Unbound, Capacity is the developing ability to remain in relationship with lived experience with sufficient presence, participation and available choice.

It is both something that can develop and something that influences the depth, pace and nature of participation throughout the Integration Spiral.

  1. Not endurance

Continuing through difficulty does not necessarily mean meaningful participation is still available.

  2. Not permanent calm

You can have capacity while feeling discomfort, uncertainty or emotion.

  3. Not a fixed amount

Capacity can change with context, demands, health, energy and support.

  1. Cornerstone reflection

What does Capacity mean in personal development?

Capacity is not how much you can tolerate, how calm you can remain or how hard you can push. It concerns what you can meaningfully meet while retaining some presence, participation and available choice.

Within the methodology

Capacity influences the whole Spiral.

Capacity is one of three interacting developmental domains, alongside Discernment and Embodiment. It is not a first stage to complete. The process remains responsive to what can be meaningfully met, explored, navigated and received now.
